Dean appears solemn in expression, his stance usually in a prayerful position. He could recite any lines in the Bible as long as you name it. To the eyes of the outsiders, he seemed like just some average Jesus-worshiping fanatic who'd probably ring your doorbell just to hand out some prayer lesson with a parent beside him a.k.a Jesus boy, but that only remains a facade. Sure, he had a strong unwavering belief against God, the consequences of sinning, and life after death, but with the war that occurred long ago, he wasn't as religious as he was pre-war. This doesn't mean that his beliefs were changing any moment now, he knows he's tied to it. He's bound with worshiping God or else he wouldn't have anything that defined him as /him/ at all. His past and relationship with his family supporting to his reason as well. Only an unbelievable strong force can rip it down, which could be the changes he adapts to in his new life as a Gravefallen; something that just breaks the everyday lifestyle of his and affects him greatly. His conscience was already implanted onto believing that if you sin, well, you go to hell.. And that God is always watching over him. Because of this, he learned to be as careful as possible. Even though logically, a spiritual being cannot meddle in with the living's affairs. This was just one of the many traits his family instilled into his mind as a child.
Sinning, for him, pretty much sums up violence (physically and emotionally). He grew up to hate sinning and this time, by his own choice. He never liked conflict in the first place. But he has his limits, and he will start conflict if his fuse combusts. Irrational manner will very much take over, as childish as it seemed.
When working, he'd do things on his own, and it was better that way, at least for him. There wasn't any variable that meddled in, and he knows what he's doing most of the time (except in situations that require new and modern technology and electronics). But if he trusts you to an extent, he will be willing to give you his permission for extra aid or help. He may be a giver in all sorts of things, but then again, trust, alas, is in fact hard to get from him. He has his own suspicions against the others and first impressions will definitely be a lasting and unforgettable impression.
He doesn't seem like he talks much, and he really doesn't. He just doesn't know what to say most of the time, and he'd usually let the other take the lead in order to get it going. Trying to maintain an amiable atmosphere, he enjoys general talks and small talks, even at the most useless topics. Personal topics are more reserved and only open to people he trusts in all his heart. Giving smiles are what he does which is just another way of saying "Thanks for talking to me even though I'm awkward as heck". He also stays faithful, both in religion and with comrades. He'll want to protect, he finds a reason why he wants to protect this specific person, and that's because he acknowledges them as a friend or comrade, divulging into the nostalgic sense of camaraderie to get a better 'will to fight' against an enemy. And that remains constant to him unless an outer/unknown force is acted upon this.
While he can be kind, sometimes acting like a good Samaritan (that's basically his 'hero' in the bible), he might be unknowingly harsh and upfront with his words. This usually depends if he wanted to end the conversation abruptly or not. A thoughtless move, at times.
Meanwhile changes happen, all the time basically. He's quick to react. He can spot on the little bits of changes and thoughts of how people perceived him. Most of the time, he doesn't really care. But deep inside, it's like a jumble of feelings mixed up together. He'd think about it then get affected by it and maybe change his ways, but it depends. It's not easy to get in control of himself when changes are happening and affecting him.
When introduced to a goal, he will accomplish it until the world ends. Life long goals exist for a reason and when given the goal, he plans on what to do about it, he'll take the initiative if it gives him a solid reason. By initiative, he'll find his own ways on how to succeed a goal. He'll seek for alternate options and open himself to a wider spectrum of ideas. Goals with no benefits for him are a no-deal.
SS 1.1: Wait, that's not right. Did he really kill someone? He, who could not stop being referred to as "Jesus boy" to many, actually killed a person? He was shocked first of all and then slumped into guilt land. People might seem like he's overreacting over a stranger's death which HE caused but to him, it already felt like walking into purgatory. He'd probably go straight to hell, actually. That's what he thinks, and the thought alone is scary. But what can he do? What is done is done.
SS 1.3: In the recent turn of events, which involved him dying for the second time, and his teammates almost getting killed, he's been feeling a bit more.. free now. Lively even. He could freely express himself easily and also took initiative to converse to people first. Why was he so calm despite what happened? He realized that the Gravefallen part of him was growing to take over himself. He knew now that Jesus was actually a Redfallen and he's back alive! When he was still recovering, he spent time and focused more on reading his Bible to understand more about Jesus and this really strengthened the invisible bond between God and him. He had spiritual questions, but he guesses that they will be answered in Gravefall some time soon. He's grown to be a bit more fearless than before but he'd stay cautious for the most part because even if he was invincible(sort of), death was still a painful thing. He'd rather not feel pain, only good vibes. They say don't let the past or your mistakes define you, so he's done mourning over the death of someone he didn't even know! Other than that, he's been exploring into new areas of emotions, such as wrath and hate for example. It felt real and reasonable to hate his team leaders Aester and Li Jing. He doesn't know how this exactly happened, but the more he questioned, the more reason there was to hate them.. Oh well.
SS 2.1: Now being booted out from Gravefall and learning a shocking truth about Aester, more questions rose out from his mind. He doesn't particularly like it, but in the end he has no choice but to deal with it. For now, he bears a dislike towards Claire and finds his team annoying but at the same time, he has a need to protect them. No longer a person who believes that violence is unjustifiable, rather he wants to finish missions- whatever they may be, ranging from helping to 'taking out' someone- as quickly as possible.

Background:
When Dean was a child, he had a lot of materials things which people couldn't really afford, caring and lovely parents to dote on him and a nice comfy house to live in, he basically had everything. But to him, those everything were not enough. Everyone in his family were a religious bunch of Christians that never really seemed to have any questions about it. Maybe he would've been the same since he was instilled into Christian faith since the moment of his birth, but for some reason he wasn't. He was confused with a lot of things, like the fact that they would worship over a nonexistent being. Growing up, he was beginning to find the gap of his relationship between his friends in school and his family. He was torn on picking sides and then ended up with two different characters, in home and in school. He did all he could to avoid being the odd one out. At that time, he was just afraid of being outcasted. This continued until the arrival of his grandmother. Their relationship was closer than any of his family members because she understood and took part in giving advice towards the confused teen. It's mostly involved of Bible teachings that he slowly got to learn spiritually. Then the war happened, a lot family members ended up dead or injured. A few were alive. His sister was sent to a monastery while he remained by his grandmother's side. She had a hard time coping the death of his parents and then a few years later, committed suicide to 'follow them', which was hypocritical of her because he remembered her saying that 'killing your own life is the biggest sin'. But he was devastated by this and went into mourning for a long time. The government, knowing that someone was still residing in a now uninhabited home by word of neighbors, sent him to an old friend of his grandma who was a pastor named Leon. He gladly took him in and Dean started to work as a caretaker in the church. Dean slowly recovered through the years and now lives without any particular reason, just to eat and sleep.
Starting his time in Gravefall, it seems like he found a goal, to make the world a better place. Starting with small errands and requests, or if it were to be specific, he wanted people to just live. It was reminiscent of his pre-Gravefall life, but he was okay with it. Life could be much more better here, right?
