Description

:icongravefall:

Name: Shiloh Young

Age: 20 (21)

Height: 5’4”

Job and Income: He works for Cecil (Redfall Government Agent)

Affiliation: Epsilon

Abilities: (01) Acid blood that can corrode metal. Immunity from human disease.

Personality:

crabby, abrasive, cynical, dubious, uptight, cautious, responsible, dutiful, loyal, ambitious

  • A  crabby boy with a cynical outlook, Shiloh always suspects the worst of people and is quick to cast judgement on them. He can always find something to stress or complain about, and lets his frustrations and doubts fuel him. It’s much better in his eyes to be upset and active than complacently rolling with things as they are.

  • He's always expecting the worst to happen and wants to be on his toes for it, so he has a hard time taking it easy. His paranoia and caution make it difficult for him to keep a cool head and be patient under duress. He'd rather take matters into his own hands and act before things get worse or more out of control (as he's sure they Will Get Worse if he lets things slide).

  • Responsiblity and dependability are big with him. He feels a strong sense of obligation to things he’s committed to. It’d eat away at him to abandon them, bothersome as it may be. In a similar vein he feels a sense of duty towards people he feels he’s become indebted to.

  • He respects things which bind him to others (like blood, obligations, contract, te..am..) and acting in accordance with that.

  • Ambitious and prone to grasping for power and control when the opportunity presents itself. Shiloh tends to try do things or take the lead himself rather than relying on others. He thinks he knows best, or at the very least better that he's much better off following his own judgement than someone else's.

Background:

Born and raised in a quiet harbour town in the maritimes, Shiloh’s never lived far from the ocean. His father was a sea captain, strict, demanding, prestigious, often away long periods at a time at sea, but a man who prioritzed his family's needs. Just as a crew had to do their duties, he was strict on his son to be responsible and do his part from a young age. Looking up to, and wanting to impress him, Shiloh tried to do his bit to take care of things in his father’s absence. It was a big responsibility, but he was always assured he could handle it! In a small tight-knit community there was always somewhere to turn to if needed, though he... preferred taking things on himself… but any favour would always be returned -- the community was sort of like his own extended-crew outside his family after all, and what was a captain if he couldn’t look out for his crew?

News of political turmoil, a war, and conflicts in the world all felt like such a distant and faraway concept to Shiloh when he started hearing of them as a kid. It got a little antsy when his father was away, but life was otherwise unaffected and certain to stay that way.

Things started slipping out of place as the war began encroaching a little close for comfort. Shiloh remembers blue skies turning dark with smoke and vessels being towed back to port in irreparable states before it was time for a move! Ah-- no, not a ‘move’, but a short trip! His mother was very positive about it, and chimed about how nice it would be to visit family up north for a while. Shiloh wasn’t happy to leave his home behind, but was assured it’d only be for a little while… Though the trip to seek refuge with family only dragged on longer as the state of the world became more complicated. Travel became unsafe, and as time passed the promises of this trip only being a temporary layover started ringing hollow. Between his parents and the news he was getting a lot of mixed messages, and he felt betrayed when it seemed they were more intent on settling and trying to get by here rather than returning home…

His father was drafted, his skills making him valuable as a naval officer. He was ultimately lost in the line of duty, but able to support Shiloh, his mother and grandmother’s move to Argent where they could live safely. Adjustment to life in the city was shaky. People were different, and he’d grown mistrustful in the years since leaving his home. Even with the city as his dad’s choice for them, he was doubtful of how safe it could really be. Still - he had to give it some credit for the cleaner air and being a place he could make a living. He’d have to work that much harder to support his remaining family without his father. One day he’d like to return home, but unless the world could get it’s act together that might just be a pipe dream.

Deaths

[01] Corroded from the inside out by acid.
[02] Black sludge forced down his throat and detonated.
[03] Decapitation.
[04] Claire's death.

Extra:

  • Would often watch and salt over the news with his grandmother. Gravefall's broadcast takeovers had ticked them off once or twice, and he sincerely hopes she continues to cuss out the television if they come up again in his absence.

  • His mother is an unfaltering source of positivity. Her health has never been good as long as Shiloh can remember, and the residual effects of chemicals in the air from the war have worsened her condition. Medicine is expensive, but keeps things stable! He can't see her anymore, but has taken up being an anonymous benefactor to her medical bills

  • Argent being oceanside is about the only thing that makes the city feel like home.

  • Has a habit of audio-logging in private to vent. He uses an old recording device with a casette.

  •  Bad with computers and modern tech, preferring old reliables like his flip-phone.

  • Superstitious. (Anything that can bring more misforturne is worth keeping in mind)

  • As of (01), he can't eat human food. He has to sustain himself on highly basic or acidic substances. Bleach, battery acid, paint thinner, glue, etc.

  • His eyes glow a strikingly unnatural mix of yellow and green. Also his blood is green!!

  • Death Counter is located on the back of his right arm. [04]

  • He's gotten into Fire Emblem and is a big fan of Lucina.

  • Anime was a mistake.
